The Indian Ikigai

“Indian Ikigai” is a way of life, for anyone who seeks something, it is to find purpose, to find optimism and it is the art of doing things you love to, with extreme focus and joy!

Long long time ago, there lived a man, who was known as Mr. Know everything, he knew about everything that he was asked about, the schedule of rains, the quality of grains, the cure of the disease, and the emotions of trees he knew it all, and people only looked at him with an awed expression.

Then came a day, when a passerby challenged him of his say. Asked him for only one question, and promised him anything in return, if he could answer it right, in years or a day.

He just asked, “Who are you?”, the man smiled and answered, I am Mr. Know everything, to which he politely replied ” I didn’t ask for your name,”I asked “Who are you?”, now the man’s smile faded a little and he said “I am a Farmer by profession,” to which without any change in his soothing voice and expression the

passerby replied, “I didn’t ask you for your profession” the only thing I want to know is who you are, now the man was a little worried because this was the first time, he felt like he didn’t know the answer himself.

And then, Mr. Know everything mentioned of all the possible things he could, like what he owned and about the relationships he had. And the passerby only smiled and said this is not who you are! Finally, Mr. Know everything gave up, and the passerby seemed to already know this and calmly answered “We are not our name or the profession, we are not even the relationship we carry, we are not the religion or the place we belong, we don’t own the things we have, we are simply the combination of all of them and beyond. We are the Purpose that we seek, and our purpose is to find who we really are!
